franking

Hi all,

as you may have discovered, fisrt class standard mail has seen a price increase of 2p up to 30p this week.

however...

for franked mail the price is actually now 29p (an increase AND a saving of 1p) the new chip I have fitted to the scales is therefore correct. Please do not frank your first class letters at 30p.

This is VERY important.

Thank you

'geeko

a week to end all weeks

It is not every day that you find out you are related to Neil Myners.
For me, that day was Monday (an even greater surprise given that Neil usually uses a more upbeat Thursday to relay genetic coincidences).
In hindsight, it was only a matter of time before such a revelation surfaced. Uncle Neil is a highly intelligent, enigmatic and charismatic individual, like myself. In reality I'd be shocked if he wasn't part of the infamous Sprengiko clan (this isn't strictly true - he has no connection whatsoever with my paternal dynasty).
Indeed, as it turns out, Neil's great grandparents and my great great grandparents are exactly the same people, my Nan is his Mum's cousin.
He knows my mum.
I, in turn, remember Auntie Joy and Uncle Alan with great familiarity, they once gave me 'Travel Yatzee' for two consecutive Christmases.
Later that day, after undergoing extensive expensive therapy, I (John Moreland) deduced that Neil has 3% of my own genetic make up, though where abouts in the proverbial pool they lie is open to interpretation (my theory is radio-based, others have suggested it may be more to do with hair-loss. Only time will tell).

In other festive news this week, Lucy Dichmont stole my birthday bic biro, Shane Wall gave me a 20p Darth Vader Easter egg, and Simon Howell spelt 'Easter' with two B's, an L, and a U.

As this is my final week as UBC's runner-in-chief, I thought it would be apt to end with a brief display of gratitude to the whole Admin & Finance team who have helped and entertained me during my time in this role. Specifically to Catherine & Sophie for hiring me, Theresa for not firing me, and Shane for not tiring me out with 'interesting tasks' while pretending to be Theresa.
Thanks are also due to Jenny Donald for being less punctual than myself, Toju for putting me in my place, and of course Simon Howell, who has been a pillar of strength and a constant role model for me during this period of personal development.

All in all, a high standard has been set for my new department - who do not have the immediate advantage of David Standley among their ranks - to emulate.
